Camelback had a match for first place in the third division against the
Gilbert Warriors. It was at camelbacks home pitch, and was a revenge
game for camelback as the Warriors handed Camelback it's only loss of
the season a month prior. The emotions were high in this match up as
shown through the temper of one of the gilbert players getting a yellow
card for throwing a punch in the first 15 minutes of the match.
Camelback players Tony, and new guy Morgan managed to keep cooler heads
and stay focused on the task at hand. The match started off a bit rocky
for Camelback falling behind 12-0 in the first 20 minutes, off of a
couple ill timed turnovers despite having the man advantage.
Camelback, began turning it around behind an impressive
physical performance of it's forwards fought back to tie the game at 12
just prior to the half. Despite this effort the warriors managed to
take the lead going into the half 19-12 with a late first half try and
conversion. The second half was more of the same for Camelback as their
forwards fitness and Jesse's Mad man running style began to wear down
the Warriors. Camelback took the lead 22-19 late in the second half
after a Clutch Kick by Dusty. The Warriors put in a solid effort in
the final ten minutes to try to tie the game but Camelback's defense
held strong and preserved the victory.
In the b-side camelback took on the Prescott blacksheep. In
this matchup the black sheep took it to Camelback early in the game and
was up 24-0 at the half. Camelback made some timely subs at the half
one of which was Coach Sione, who came in and scored a try in the second
camelback made the score respectable but still lost 48-28.
